Tasting - "Maipe Chardonnay"

  • Maipe Chardonnay
  • 85% Chardonnay, 15% Viognier
  • Mendoza
  • Argentina
  • 2012
  • $7.95
  • 30% malolactic fermentation and 30% was aged in French oak barrels. Wine critics say this Maipe Chardonnay is a yellow, golden color with hints of green. This wine is crisp and filled with white peach, pear, green apple flavors, and toasty vanilla. The finish is long and crisp. It pairs best with creamy soups, pork, veal, or vegetables.
  • My palate found this Chardonnay to be mildly acidic, with flavors of citrus and pear. It also seemed a little oaky for a white wine.
  • I did not taste with food.
